'Godliness With Contentment Is Great Gain'

Few people living in urban settings will be closely involved in the harvest process. Nevertheless, it is a time to gives thanks to God, in humility, and to acknowledge that “all good gifts around us are sent from heaven above” and to “praise God from whom all blessing flow”. Paul reminds his young mentee, Timothy, that he must have a proper view of living in a material world; it is fraught with dangers. Against that background, Paul tells Timothy that true mega-wealth is the contentment that issues from true godliness, which Timothy must pursue.

Main Points:

  1. Godliness
  2. Contentment
  3. Great Gain

To achieve that, there are two things not to do and one main thing to do and some implications that follow; not to be arrogant, nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything, and do good, be rich in good deeds, and be generous and willing to share.
