When we studied Romans 7:1-6 we saw how Paul was beginning to show us the true purpose of God's Law for the Christian. We saw that:
- - it reveals the character of God and in so doing reveals our sin and points us to the Saviour.
- - it acts as a restraint on sin in a fallen society.
- - it shows us how we are to live as Christians.
We also saw that because we are in Christ we have died to the Law and we have been delivered from the Law.
In the remainder of chapter 7 we find Paul confessing his own personal struggles with the sin that the Law revealed in him. We see the agonising internal conflict that he experienced but we also see his confidence in where to find the power to live an obedient Christian life.
In Paul's personal testimony we find the help and encouragement we need as we face similar struggles.
- His Desire for Mutual Encouragement
- His Sense of Obligation
- His Confidence in the Power of the Gospel
