'The Place of Peace'

Andrew Ollerton is his book on Romans, as a keen mountaineer, likens studying Romans to climbing a mountain. He says there are moments where you've sweated your way up steep terrain and faced some challenging sections, then you come over a horizon unto easier ground. Now is the time to sit down, take a breath and look back over the way you have come and admire the view that your new vantage point affords.

Romans 1-4 has certainly involved some hard climbing and challenging sections but Romans 5 is a place of peace. Paul has explained clearly the need for justification and he has explained the way of justification. Now he reflects on the blessings of justification. What are some of the things we now know and enjoy having been justified by Christ alone by faith alone?

  1. We have peace with God.
  2. We have access to God.
  3. We have hope in God.
  4. We are loved by God.
