'The Hard Slog Of Gospel Ministry'

Colossians 1:24-2:5

Last time Paul set out the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus Christ in both creation and in His new creation. In our passage today Paul shares with the Colossian believers the practical outworking of this message in his own ministry. We learn what it means to be servant of Christ and what it means to be a servant of His church. We will see that gospel ministry can a hard slog but well worth it when we keep before us the ‘hope of glory.’

Message Points:

  1. Paul: A Servant of Christ
    • His Ministry
    • His Message
  2. Paul: A Servant of The Church
    • His Ministry
    • His Message

Application & Response:

  1. Remembering that the New Testament calls every believer to some form of ‘ministry’ or service - what do you understand your ministry to be? If you are not sure then ask someone in the church who you respect and who knows you well what they think.

  2. How can you encourage and show appreciation to those who serve you in some form of ministry in the church?

  3. ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory.’ What excites you about this summary of the Gospel message and how we benefit from it?
