'Why We Fight (And How To Stop)'

James 4:1-12

Back at the end of chapter 1 James presented three tests of true faith: care for the poor, control of the tongue and keeping oneself from being polluted by the world. We have looked in detail at the first two tests in chapters 2 & 3.
We now turn our attention to the third test as we look at what happens when we allow the wisdom of the world to pollute our lives.

Opening:

As we come to worship we join in the words of 'Only A Holy God'.

Message Points:

  1. The Source of Conflict
  2. The Consequences of Conflict
  3. The Solution to Conflict

Questions For Application:

  1. Consider a conflict you have been involved in. What did it reveal about your heart? How did it affect your prayers?

  2. Are there any areas of your life where there is evidence that you are choosing to be a friend of the world? Can you see how this conflicts with friendship towards God? Take time to repent of this now.

  3. Think upon the great truth of verse 6, "He gives us more grace." Why is that truth particularly precious to you today?

Closing:

As we conclude let’s use the song 'Lord Reign In Me'.
