In the second of our Holy Week services, Steven Woods takes us through Exodus 12:1-51, discovering how it points us to the Easter Story.
Before you watch the video, listen to The Lord Is My Salvation.
After you watch the video, pray the prayer below and then listen to To God Be The Glory, a wonderful reminder of the gospel and the Easter story.
Lord and Father,
Your love shines out of the cross. Your love beams out of the cross and I ask that as it shines on me it would enlarge my heart and open my lips to praise you.
There, at Calvary, through grace your Son removed my burden, my sin and my shame and placed them on himself. Eternal punishment was due to me but punishment was endured by Him.
Christ was all anguish that I might be all joy
cast off that I could be brought in
made an enemy so I could be a friend
surrendered to hell’s worst so I could grasp heaven’s best
stripped that I may be clothed
wounded that I might be healed
made thirsty so I could drink
tormented so I could be comforted
made a shame so I can inherit glory
entered darkness that I can live in eternal light.
Jesus, our saviour, wept so that all tears will one day be wiped from my eyes
groaned that I might sing endless songs
endured pain that I might have unfading health
bore a thorny crown so I will receive the crown of life
bowed his head so I can lift mine up
experienced disgrace that I will receive welcome
closed his eyes to death that I can open mine to life
died so that I can live.
Father God, who didn’t spare your only son so that you could spare me from punishment, help me to adore him with my lips and my life. In every breath I now breath may I honour you. In every step I take may I do so in joy, knowing that Satan and death have been crushed, hells gates opened and heaven’s doors awaiting me.
Amen
